There was a big ask recently about a school van carrying school children that met with an accident resulting in a death of one student when he was flung out of a school van in an accident - Why no seatbelt?
The school van did not have seat belt for students sitting in the school van! Is this an acceptable practice for all passenger van in Singapore not to have a safety seat belts installed?
It is a must for all cars in Singapore to be fit with rear passenger seat belt many years ago as the government see it as a safety measures. This is a good move made by LTA and a lot have been done to ensure all cars are fit with rear passenger seat belt and now all cars in Singapore are fit with the safety device.
As much has been done to ensure the safety of the passengers in the cars, what about the safety of the people in a passenger van especially passenger vans involve in ferrying school children? We are talking about the safety of our children in the school van.
Safety measures should be taken into study and consideration to prevent accident resulting in fatality and not to be taken lightly especially when our children’s life is concerned.
Well after all, we are Singaporeans and we expect the best and the safest for our children, shouldn’t we?
