I am not sure if anyone else share the same bad experience as I had with Courts Superstore. Being a Singaporean, some of us do make hire purchase from Courts and that includes me.

I am just not sure why many of us still go for hire purchase from Courts considering the high interest that they are charging comparing to other superstores. I guess we are just plain desperate to get on the things we dream of like computers, notebook electronic products like digital camera, camcorder, plasma TV etc etc.

As for me, it’s just the convenience that they provide and I make sure to make prompt payment every month and I have been doing that until I finish paying for the installment.

Knowing Courts, they will send their debt collector to come and harass you even if you default payment for one month or two months. They will come to your house and we will have to pay extra $50 for the debt collection service on top of the late payment charges.

I can tell you that it is not a good experience when their debt collector comes to your house. It happened to me once when I defaulted payment for two months. They came to your house and this people they are very rude. I never wanted to go through that again and i decided that this will be the last time I will ever make any purchase from Courts again and I will not recommend anyone to get anything from Courts too.

I have been a loyal paying customer and i guess they just don’t know how to treasure a customer. So I was really looking forward to the last installment day and when it arrived, I gladly made the last payment and even called Courts accounts department to check on if there’s anymore outstanding because I just don’t want them sending those bunch of rude people to harass me again. And fair enough, they said that there’s no more outstanding.

Then about two months later, I received a letter from Courts saying that I have an outstanding of $62 over dollars which I don’t know where it came from. They even mentioned that they will send their debt collector to get payment if this is not settled. SO it will amount to $112 if their debt collector were to come by to my place.

What the hell is wrong with them? I just don’t know what kind of accounts staff they are hiring and this has caused me so much trouble. I am not going to pay anything more to them and one day, I decided to write a letter to their management complaining about the whole incident and demand for an explaination.

I received a reply few days after from their account staff telling me that they will write it off! Just so easy they will just write it off. I guessed they have a very bad accounting procedure and I could no longer trust them anymore after all the trouble they put me into.

Coincidently, a neighbor of mine was also complaining about Courts they other day to me saying that they even called their office during office hour to demand for payment. Oh my god! how can they do that! They are trying to caused shame to whoever that default payment. They could just call the home instead of the office.

All I can say is that, I hope one day, CASE or the authority can look into this matter about what they are practicing.
